Coppr symbol reference

Coppr generates symbols from a part's source pin table. One versioned artwork catalogue supplies the desktop canvas, library previews, native SVG/PDF and KiCad exports. Pins sit where the source layout puts them; artwork fits those anchors. Every example below has conceptual terminals, not a package pinout.

The default follows the shape conventions of IEEE 315 / ANSI Y32.2, with Coppr's own proportions, stroke weights and typography. This is a convention statement, not a claim of certified compliance. An IEC style remains future work. See the IEEE publication record. No standard clauses or figures are claimed without access to their text.

Reference designators and values use IBM Plex Mono through the desktop's real semantic tokens. Blue refdes colour is independent of selection. SVG draws accessible glyph outlines from the original licensed faces, with Inter as an explicit fallback for unsupported characters; no font program is embedded. PDF uses the same outlines and the light print palette. KiCad uses the nearest installed face and its own project colours; it cannot embed Coppr's font/theme.

Arrangement and identity

The semantic library engine places supplies on top, grounds on the bottom, inputs/control/clocks left and outputs/comms/GPIO right. Pins are grouped by function, naturally sorted within groups, with a gap between groups. The body grows with label lengths. Explicit sides and source layouts take precedence. IC, MCU, sensor and transceiver presentations share the functional box in the current library engine. A source category alone does not prove a device subtype.

Regulators require sourced VIN, VOUT and GND roles, with supported optional control pins and numbered ground stacks. Their body fits the retained layout; long labels enlarge newly generated bodies. Op-amps and comparators have straight input leads and distinct +/− marks. Source roles, not pin order, decide which input is which. Headers show one contact and its source number per pin. Their existing positions are retained; the single in-line wizard style makes one column when a new symbol is authored.

The wizard also offers dual in-line (numbers down the left then up the right), quad (counter-clockwise sides, count divisible by four), as-given (explicit sides/order) and semantic arrangements. Changing style changes a newly authored layout; rendering an existing schematic never silently rewrites manual wires.

Unknowns and wrong symbols

A number identifies a pin. Documented names prove terminal roles; a model's opinion and a pin's position do not. Unsupported topology, ambiguous polarity, unknown roles or incompatible anchors keep the labelled box and explain why. Numbered stacks retain each original number and net. The catalogue supplies no MPN, rating, physical dimension, verified pinout or verification approval.

To report a wrong symbol, provide its family id below, Coppr version, source pin table and provenance/revision, the affected pin numbers, and a screenshot or export showing the problem. Include the fallback reason when present. Correct the source facts through the library review flow; authored suggestions remain needs_review. Do not substitute a guessed pinout to make the picture look right.

Families

Both themes below are generated by the shipped library and native renderers. Show their SVGs at intrinsic size (20 CSS px/grid, 11 px refdes, 13 px value); larger symbols need larger cards, never a smaller drawing. The JSON manifest records actual category defaults and named terminal contracts. More specific families require the source-word classifier and documented roles; a broad category by itself cannot choose a polarity, channel or contact form.
